Food Sensitivity

The "Food Fear" Cycle

  • The feeling: You’ve started to fear the very food that should fuel you. Every meal feels like a gamble, wondering if this specific ingredient will be the one to trigger a flare-up.

  • The impact: Socializing becomes stressful, and your diet keeps shrinking as you try to "guess" your way to relief.

  • The data: We move past elimination diets by using Substrate Challenges to objectively identify which sugars or carbohydrates your body is failing to process.

The Science

Sensitivities often stem from the body's inability to fully absorb specific sugars during digestion.

  • The Mechanics: When certain carbohydrates are not absorbed in the small intestine, they are fermented by bacteria, which release Hydrogen gas as a byproduct.

  • The Objective Signal: We identify these sensitivities by tracking the rise of this gas. The physical stretching caused by the gas, combined with water being drawn into the bowel, creates the localized pain and urgency associated with "trigger" foods.
